Hi, I need advice! I have social anxiety disorder and I've been in theatre for four years. I've somehow managed to avoid not having more than one costume in the billions of shows I'm done. But now I have two costume changes in this show but I absolutely cannot change in front of people I can't and I'm having anxiety attacks and freaking out because dress rehearsal is in a few days. My dresses don't allow me to wear a tank top underneath, it'd show through. I'm so scared. Any advice? :/

The easiest solution to this is quick and simple, just change in the bathroom :) Give yourself plenty of time to get there and back on stage. Maybe have a friend who won’t be on stage when you come off, grab the bathroom for you so that you can hop in quickly. Also, you may look at flesh colored leotards, I used to wear them in my first shows when I wasn’t so comfortable just stripping in the wings ;)

I hope you are able to overcome this fear, and just remember some simple things that helped me get through that: 1. Everyone else is changing too, they don’t have time to worry about you. 2. No one has a “perfect body”, I am sure they hate something about themselves too.

Break legs!! :) You’ll do great!
